In 2021, EAS Batteries celebrated 25 years of "Power you can trust" at the Nordhausen site - 25 years of increasing specialised knowledge of lithium-ion technology in the cell design of large-format cylindrical cells.
The economic and ecological value of EAS's highly specialised know-how is increasingly recognised. Anton Hofreiter, leader at the time of the “Bündnis 90/Die Grünen” parliamentary group, expressed it as follows during his visit to EAS in August: "EAS has key know-how. The technology used here can make electromobility, but also the protection of our power grids, safer, cheaper and more sustainable in the future."
The automotive industry has also discovered EAS Batteries. Among other things, EAS supplied the battery cells for the world's first two-seater e-racing car in 2021 - based on a new active material from Johnson Matthey. EAS Batteries GmbH is intensifying its services in product development to provide tailored support for innovations. In 2021, for example, EAS also developed and produced new cell formats that will drive electromobility in the German automotive industry.
EAS has also made achievements in the area of research and development: As part of the funded research project "Headline" with a volume of 7.5 million Euro, EAS is further developing its unique and patented extrusion process for electrodes. Extruded electrodes are produced in a much more environmentally friendly, energy-saving and efficient way than the wet coating process commonly used in the industry.
EAS Batteries' product portfolio also benefits from the increasing knowledge gained through its daily work. Cell and technology innovations are standardised and transferred to the existing offering. In 2021, for example, EAS has increased the capacity of the "HP 601300" cell by ten percent applying tab-free laser contacting.
The team is also supposed to grow in the coming year. EAS is looking forward to welcoming new colleagues in Nordhausen and Hamburg. They are going to strengthen EAS in view of the increasing demand for pioneering services in the field of project development and project organisation.
In the next years’ newsletters, we are happy to continuously keep you posted about the latest news at EAS. For now, we wish you a wonderful Christmas season, happy holidays and a high "state of charge" (SOC) in the upcoming year. Start well into a healthy and successful 2022!
